Why Every Woman Deserves To Be Celebrated This International Women’s Month

Taking center stage is women’s right and empowerment this March 8, 2020. Exactly 25 years since the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action which served as a roadmap for gender equality.

The theme for this year’s 2020 campaign is called “Generation Equality”which promotes bringing together people of different ages, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, and country. Small actions can have big impacts on making a vision a reality and together the goal is to mobilize to end gender-based violence and empower women for economic justice and respect for their rights. 📣

International Women’s Day is important because it is on this daythat all the historical achievements of women across the globe are celebrated. It is the day for women to fight for gender parity and women’s right. ✊

Women empowerment

Here at Nueboo HQ, we support the cause for women empowerment because it is the key to economic growth, political stability, and most of all social transformation. Celebrities, renowned world leaders, and scientists are constantly highlighting the importance of elevating the voices of women. 📱🗯️

Although the word “empowerment” does not exist in most languages and there is no common definition of the term. However, according to the World Bank, “Empowerment is the process of increasing the capacity of individuals or groups to make choices and to transform those choices into desired actions and outcomes.”

Close to our hearts and the Nueboo vision is the desire to empower women through a positive body image. The rise of social media also came with the increase of unrealistic body standards that women are constantly bombarded with on a daily basis. 👧💃

Even before social media, these “too perfect” body images of models and celebrities were constantly shown to the public on magazines and television shows as images as what should constitute what a modern-day woman should look like.

Body positivity

Due to this, it has gotten increasingly difficult to promote a positive body image because of the preconceived notions as what a beautiful and confident woman should be. All people deserve to have a positive body image of themselves regardless of what society or what other people may say about them. 💋

What is important to remember and what should be taught to children at this generation is that unrealistic societal standards are chains that shape our appearance, behavior, and way of life if we don’t learn to love ourselves for being different.

Body positivity is not just about challenging how society views people based on their size and shape but also about understanding that those preconceived judgments are often based on race, gender, sexuality, culture, and disability.

You as women are strong and powerful just like anyone else in this world and you should be enjoying the body that you have and not beating yourself up for not meeting Covergirl standards that are genuinely unrealistic for the majority of women.

Individuality should be celebrated and not ridiculed. 👑 And this International Women’s Day we hope that you will join us in celebrating the unsurmountable achievements may it be big or small of every woman in this world - we believe in #BeBoldForAChange.
